info
Steve Agnos was born and raised in San Francisco. He graduated San Francisco State with a bachelor's degree in Creative Writing. He worked in Advertising for five years, in which time he started getting into video production, making racing microdocumentaries for STP. In 2011 he started freelance filmmaking/film editing and working on "Sustainable Man" with his brother, Chris Agnos - creating over 40 short films so far with over 23 million combined views- including the viral hit "How Wolves Change Rivers"- all in the hopes of helping to promote a more sustainable world. Steve is also becoming more and more familiar with animation, which you see with "The Story of the Chinese Farmer" and the SolGanix music videos here on this site. More recently Steve has started getting more involved in local causes, creating the films "Save San Francisco's Flower Mart" as well as "Tides of Change ~ The Story of the James R. Herman Memorial." Steve also has created a series of web commercials for Intelligent Maintenance, and making videos of his baby boy, Daniel Agnos.
Work
experience
FREELANCE VIDEO MAKER
2012 - PRESENT
For the first year of working on my own I worked mainly as a film editor, editing webinars for Apigee, a client of ClubSodaPro. At the same time I also honed my skills making over 40 videos for the Sustainable Man (now Sustainable Human) YouTube and Vimeo Pages. The average video got about 100,000 views, and the most viral of which, "How Wolves Change Rivers" and "How Whales Change Climate" now have over 20 million views.
More recently I have gotten into local activist causes, such as with the video "Save San Francisco's Flower Market" which I worked with alongside my father, former Mayor Art Agnos.
I have also done some more commercial work, making web commercials for the practical app company, Intelligent Maintenance.
ADVERTISING / FILM EDITOR FOR DIAL HOUSE
2010 - 2012
Among other responsibilities I had at this ad agency in San Francisco, the one I fell in love with and turned into a career was that of a film editor. It was the filming and editing of the STP racing microdocumentaries that got me hooked.
ODD JOBS
1995 - 2009
I've had a lot of odd jobs since my first job at Blockbuster Video back in 1995. None of it is very relevant to what I'm doing now, other than providing life experience in which to draw upon for video storytelling. Feel free to ask me about this sometime.
Education
MIAMI AD SCHOOL
2009
I spent a couple semesters at the Miami Ad School before deciding to get out of debt and into the work force. I began working at Dial House soon after in 2010.
Chico State / San Francisco State University
2001 - 2005
After spending a year at Chico State, I left the party school to go back home and graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Creative Writing at San Francisco State University.
